A wave of energy swept through Milan on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, turning the city center into a vibrant stage for sport and community. The 53rd edition of Stramilano shattered previous records, bringing more than 62,500 participants to the streets, including professional athletes, families, and enthusiasts.

A Tribute to Alex Zanardi and the Start of the Race

The event began with a poignant moment of remembrance: a minute of silence dedicated to Alex Zanardi, an enduring symbol of sporting determination. The official start of the races was given by godmother Francesca Lollobrigida, Olympic speed skating champion, who fired the traditional shot from the Historic Cannon of the Horse Artillery Regiment.

Technical Results: A Record-Breaking Half Marathon

The 21 km half marathon, starting from Piazza Castello, saw over 10,000 runners participate on one of Italy’s fastest courses.

  • Men’s Podium: Kenyan dominance with Mark Kiptoo taking first place (01:00:09), followed by Amon Kiptoo and Philemon Kiplimo Kimaiyo.
  • Women’s Podium: Victory for Jedidah Chepkemoi Sang (01:10:04), ahead of Hilda Jelagat Kiptum and Esther Yeko Chekwemoi.
  • Italian Performances: Notable performances included Alain Cavagna (01:04:31) and Giulia Sommi (01:20:00), who were the first Italians to cross the finish line.

A Celebration for All: 10 km and Stramilanina

At 10:00 AM, Piazza Duomo was filled with participants of the non-competitive 10 km race, attended by regional Undersecretary Federica Picchi and Councillor Martina Riva. Shortly after, it was time for Stramilanina, the 5 km race dedicated to children accompanied by parents and grandparents.

The atmosphere was enlivened by military fanfares, acrobatic performances by LiberiDi, and DJ sets along the route, with the Arch of Peace transformed into a large final celebration area.

Heart and Solidarity

Beyond the sport, Stramilano reaffirmed its commitment to solidarity by supporting numerous associations, including Abio and Dutur Claun, Africa&Sport, the City Angels, and the Italian Air Force’s project for Buzzi Hospital.

Upcoming Events

For those who want to keep running, the organization has already announced future dates:

  • Stramilano Sottozero: November 29th, 2026.
  • Stramilano 2027 (54th edition): March 21st, 2027.
