ROME, June 3, 2026 – The first edition of “A Day at the Airport,” a project organized by Enac Servizi to introduce students to the world of civil aviation and its various professions, concluded this afternoon at Rome Urbe Airport. Students from the “Amedeo Avogadro” Scientific High School in Rome had the unique opportunity to observe the operations of an airport and learn about the key activities that ensure its functionality.
Immersive Experience in Aviation
Throughout the day, participants toured the Enav control tower, utilized simulators provided by Enac Servizi, Aero Club di Roma, and Aviomar, and visited the hangars of Urbe Aero and Leonardo. This direct engagement allowed them to interact with professionals, cutting-edge technologies, and essential infrastructure within the aeronautical sector.
First Flight Experience for Students
The experience culminated in a “baptism of flight,” organized in collaboration with the Aero Club di Roma. This offered the students a unique chance to personally experience the thrill of flying and deepen their understanding of the industry from a practical perspective.
Positive Feedback and Future Plans
Marco Trombetti, sole administrator of Enac Servizi, stated, “This first edition has confirmed the value of initiatives that allow young people to concretely approach the world of aviation and its professional opportunities. I would like to thank everyone for their availability and cooperation, which made this experience possible. Enac Servizi will continue, in line with its corporate mission, to promote outreach and orientation projects dedicated to new generations.”
This initiative marks the initial phase of a program that will be progressively expanded to other airports managed by Enac Servizi. The goal is to foster an aviation culture and enhance awareness of the educational and professional prospects offered by this strategic and continuously evolving sector.
Growing Demand for Aviation Professionals
According to ICAO estimates, approximately 790,000 new pilots will be needed globally by 2037. Furthermore, Eurocontrol anticipates an increase in European air traffic of up to 52% by 2050, highlighting the critical need for a skilled workforce in the aviation industry.
The successful event at Rome Urbe Airport underscores the importance of early exposure to specialized fields, aiming to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals and address future industry demands.
