Rome in Music: A Week of Free Concerts and Shows Across All Districts
Rome, June 4, 2026 – For seven days, Rome will resonate with music. From June 7 to 13, the first edition of RIM – Rome in Music – will debut, an event promoted by Roma Capitale with the artistic direction of Roman singer-songwriter Daniele Silvestri. This initiative will involve all of the city’s districts with a completely free program aimed at enhancing Rome’s musical heritage, connecting established artists, music schools, cultural associations, and amateur musicians. The goal is to establish a stable annual event capable of showcasing the rich cultural and musical tapestry of the Capital.
Inaugural Parade from Trastevere to Piazza Navona
The official opening is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, with a grand musical parade that will start from Piazza Mastai and proceed to Piazza Navona, traversing the historic city center. The procession will include musicians, students, and citizens from all fifteen city districts, accompanied by Roman marching bands such as Samba Precario, Cecafumo, and Altrabanda. Upon reaching its destination, the parade will be greeted by the Musical Band of the Rome Capitale Local Police Corps, officially launching the festival.
Piazza Navona Becomes the Festival’s Hub
Throughout the week, Piazza Navona will transform into an open-air studio and the central hub of the event. Until June 12, it will host live radio broadcasts, musical playlists, book presentations, and discussions dedicated to music, led by Daniele Silvestri. These events will alternate between in-depth discussions and live performances, featuring prominent figures from the Italian music scene. Announced guests include Sergio Cammariere on June 8, Tosca on June 9, Stefano Fresi on June 10, and Max Gazzè on June 11.
Events and Concerts in City Neighborhoods
One of the core elements of RIM is its widespread nature. The festival will not be confined to the historic center but will engage neighborhoods across the entire city, thanks to collaborations with the Municipalities, music schools, and local associations. Public spaces, squares, and community centers will host concerts, exhibitions, and initiatives developed in partnership with local communities, aiming to bridge the gap between the city center and its peripheries and encourage citizen participation.
Grand Finale at Parco Schuster
The festival will conclude on Saturday, June 13, at Parco Schuster with a grand jam session open to musicians from the participating schools. The day will be divided into several parts. In the afternoon, participants will register, while in the evening, Daniele Silvestri and numerous guests from the Italian music scene will take the stage. The closing event will also feature a dialogue with the Roman rap scene, a key part of the final performance.
All Events Are Free
The entire program of RIM – Rome in Music – will have free admission. The event is promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, with the coordination of the Department of Cultural Activities and the collaboration of OTR Live and Zètema Progetto Cultura. The full calendar of events and updates on individual appointments are available on the institutional website of Roma Capitale dedicated to the festival.
