Man Tasered After Barricading Himself in Rocca di Papa Home Following Barista Assault
Rocca di Papa, May 4, 2026 – A 46-year-old man was tasered and arrested by Carabinieri this morning after he violently assaulted a 61-year-old barista and then barricaded himself inside his home in Rocca di Papa, a town in the Castelli Romani area near Rome. The incident caused a scare in Piazza Valeriano Gatta, where the bar ‘Il Carpino’ is located.
Violent Assault During Bar Opening
The assault occurred around 7:00 AM as the bar owner was opening the shutters of her establishment. The man, a resident of a nearby building, reportedly attacked the woman, inflicting severe blows to her face. Following the aggression, the man retreated to his home and barricaded himself inside.
Emergency services, including an ambulance from 118, quickly arrived at the scene. The 61-year-old victim was transported to the Nuovo Ospedale dei Castelli in Ariccia. She sustained significant bruising to her face but, fortunately, her life is not in danger.
Carabinieri Intervention and Taser Deployment
Carabinieri from the Rocca di Papa station and the Frascati company were immediately dispatched to the piazza. Faced with a uncooperative individual barricaded inside his residence, a Carabinieri negotiator attempted to establish communication. When dialogue proved unsuccessful, the Carabinieri were forced to storm the house.
During the intervention, the 46-year-old man was subdued using a taser. He was then taken away by ambulance for medical assessment and subsequent arrest. No Carabinieri officers or other individuals were injured during the operation. Firefighters also attended the scene as a precautionary measure.
