On Sunday, June 7th, the first Sunday of the month, all sites within the Rome Capital Museum System and the city’s archaeological areas will offer free admission to everyone. This initiative provides a fantastic opportunity to explore Rome’s rich cultural heritage without an entry fee.
Which Sites Offer Free Entry?
In addition to the civic museums, the following sites will also have free admission:
- Museo della Forma Urbis (within the Celio Archaeological Park)
- Sacred Area of Largo Argentina
- Archaeological area of the Circus Maximus
- Imperial Forums (entry from Trajan’s Column)
Please note: Free entry is subject to site capacity. Group reservations are mandatory and can be made through the Rome Capital contact center at 060608 (available from 9:00 to 19:00).
Special Event: Guided Tours of Palazzo Senatorio
An exclusive opportunity awaits visitors with free guided tours of Palazzo Senatorio on the Capitoline Hill, the seat of the Municipality of Rome since 1143. Expert guides will lead visitors through the majestic halls, offering insights into its millennial history.

Temporary Exhibitions with Free Access
Several temporary exhibitions across the Rome Capital Museum System will also be accessible for free:
Capitoline Museums (Piazza del Campidoglio 1)
- Vasari and Rome: At Palazzo Caffarelli, an exhibition dedicated to the profound connection between Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) and the Eternal City.
- The Unfinished: between Poetics and Executive Technique: In the Pinacoteca, an exploration of the creative process behind unfinished paintings.
- Angels – Messengers, Guardians and Wanderers, the Sublime Creatures from Antiquity to Contemporaneity: On the ground floor of Palazzo dei Conservatori, a selection of works depicting angelic figures in Western art.
- The Colors of Antiquity. Santarelli Marbles at the Capitoline Museums: In the Palazzo Clementino halls, a comprehensive overview of colored marbles from their origins to the 20th century.
Trajan’s Markets – Museum of the Imperial Forums (Via Quattro Novembre 94)
- Constantin Brâncuși. The Origins of the Infinite: Part of the Italy-Romania Cultural Year 2026, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Constantin Brâncuși’s birth.
Modern Art Gallery (Via Francesco Crispi 24)
- GAM 100. A Century of the Municipal Gallery 1925-2025: Over 120 works tracing the gallery’s history on its centenary.
Museums of Villa Torlonia
- Pedro Cano. Siete and Rome: At Casino dei Principi, over a hundred works by the Spanish artist, including his black and white series on the human condition and works dedicated to Rome.
- Under a Good Star – The Emblem of the Italian Republic in the Papers of Paolo Paschetto: At Casina delle Civette, an exhibition dedicated to the history of the national symbol, marking the 80th anniversary of the Constituent Assembly election.
Museum of Rome in Trastevere (Piazza di S. Egidio 1/b)
- Along the Blue Highways. Photographs by Francesco Conversano: A selection of ninety black and white and color photographs taken in the United States by the film director Francesco Conversano between 1999 and 2017.
- À Rome la nuit. Photographs by Hervé Gloaguen: Images documenting the French photographer’s travels in Rome between 1974 and 1995.
Carlo Bilotti Museum – Aranciera di Villa Borghese (Via Fiorello La Guardia, 6 and Viale dell’Aranciera, 4)
- Magic Lanterns. Photographs from the Valerio De Paolis collection: Over a hundred works by leading international photographers, including Cartier-Bresson, Araki, Cindy Sherman, Francesca Woodman, Man Ray, and Letizia Battaglia.
Museum of the Walls (Via di Porta San Sebastiano, 18)
- Moto a luogo #2: The Academies of Fine Arts of Frosinone and Rome present an artistic research project with site-specific installations interacting with the museum’s history.
Exceptions to Free Entry (Standard Fees Apply)
The following exhibitions are NOT included in the free entry initiative, and standard admission fees apply (reduced rates for MIC Card holders):
- Ettore Scola – We Never Left Each Other (Museum of Rome Palazzo Braschi): A major exhibition commemorating the tenth anniversary of the director’s passing.
- Robert Mapplethorpe. The Forms of Beauty (Museum of the Ara Pacis): Approximately 200 photographs exploring beauty as absolute perfection and formal rigor.
- Bunker and the Air Raid Shelters of Villa Torlonia (Casino Nobile, Via Nomentana 70): A new exhibition documenting Mussolini’s life in the villa and an immersive multimedia experience recreating air raids during WWII. Booking is mandatory for individuals and groups.
- Circus Maximus Experience: An immersive visit to the Circus Maximus with augmented and virtual reality, available from 9:30 to 16:00 (every 15 minutes, last entry at 14:50).
- Planetarium shows.
