Dios Museum Reopens in Naples, Celebrating Maradona’s Legacy

Naples, April 30 – The Dios Museum, an interactive and immersive exhibition dedicated to the legendary footballer Diego Armando Maradona, has officially reopened its doors in Naples. Housed temporarily within the prestigious Apostolic Nunciature Palace at Via Toledo 352, the exhibition will run from April 30 to October 30, 2026, coinciding with Maradona’s birth date, and offers free admission to all visitors.

This 2026 edition of the Dios Museum presents a completely revamped and significantly expanded experience compared to last year’s iteration. Promoted by Piazza Italia, the project aims to provide visitors with an even richer, more engaging, and immersive journey into the life and career of the Argentine champion, affectionately known as the ‘Pibe de Oro’.

A Journey Through Maradona’s Life and Career

The museum guides the public through Maradona’s private and sporting life, revisiting the most iconic moments of his career and highlighting the special bond he forged with Naples and its passionate fans. Among the key features of the new setup are a series of innovative interactive installations. By scanning specific images displayed throughout the exhibition, visitors can access dynamic content and animations dedicated to Maradona on various screens.

The exhibition also includes several thematic rooms, each dedicated to a significant period or aspect of Maradona’s journey. These include sections covering his early career, his triumphs in the World Cups, his historic Scudetto and league title victories with Napoli at the San Paolo stadium, his transfer to Barcelona, the challenging years of his disqualification, his return in 1994, and his eventual retirement from professional football.

Exclusive Memorabilia and Multimedia Content

On display are authentic jerseys worn by the Argentine superstar during his illustrious career with Napoli, Barcelona, and other pivotal moments in his sporting trajectory. The museum also features previously unreleased multimedia content, experiential areas, and spaces designed to encourage public interaction. Among these are two notable artworks by master Domenico Sepe.

One of the highlights is “Diego Eterno” (Eternal Diego), a clay model created in 2021 as the first iconographic study of Diego after his passing. This model served as the basis for the subsequent bronze sculpture. The other is the canvas “L’alba di Diego” (Diego’s Dawn), painted exclusively for the museum’s opening, which portrays Maradona in his iconic pose as a universal vision of his being.

Strengthening the Bond Between Naples and Maradona

Organizers expressed their anticipation for the exhibition, stating, “We aim to attract enthusiasts, tourists, and curious visitors, once again confirming the strong bond between Naples and the figure of Maradona, who has remained a symbol of sporting redemption and popular passion over time.”

The Dios Museum serves as a powerful testament to Maradona’s enduring legacy in Naples, a city where he is revered as a cultural icon and an embodiment of local pride. The exhibition is expected to draw a significant number of visitors, further cementing Maradona’s place in the city’s history and collective memory.

The free admission and comprehensive nature of the exhibition make it an accessible and compelling attraction for both long-time fans and those new to the legend of Diego Armando Maradona.
