52,000 Students in Campania to Take Maturity Exams, AI Integration Planned
Naples, June 14 – Approximately 52,000 students across the Campania region are preparing to face their maturity exams, commencing this Thursday with the traditional Italian language test. This significant number of candidates, though lower than previous years, solidifies Campania’s position among regions with the highest participation.
The majority of these students, around 22,000, hail from Naples and its province, followed by the Salerno area with approximately 16,000 candidates. This year’s exams introduce several key changes, notably the re-emphasis on the ‘maturity exam’ designation and the crucial role of conduct grades, which will now be decisive for both admission to the tests and the final outcome.
New Oral Exam Format and Strict Regulations
A major innovation for this year is the structure of the oral exam. The interview will focus on four fixed subjects determined by the Ministry of Education. Unlike previous years, students will not be permitted to remain silent. According to the new regulations, any candidate who fails to speak during the oral examination will automatically be disqualified.
Approximately 2,000 examination committees will be deployed across Campania, each consisting of five members – two external commissioners, two internal commissioners, and an external president. These committees will convene two days prior to the start of the exams.
Future of Education: AI Integration on the Horizon
Looking ahead, Campania is set to pilot a significant educational experiment next year: the introduction of Artificial Intelligence into school curricula. This trial will involve between 15,000 and 20,000 students, marking a progressive step in the region’s educational landscape.
