Naples, June 9 – Two established operators, Ideal and Bagno Elena, have secured new two-year concessions for the beaches of Baia Donn’Anna and the adjacent Lido delle Monache. A new entrant, Romeo Alberghi srl, has also been awarded a concession, marking a significant development for the city’s coastal areas.

New Concessions for Iconic Naples Beaches

The tender commission finalized its review of project proposals and economic offers yesterday, concluding the process for three lots across Baia Donn’Anna and the Lido delle Monache. Both beaches are located near the historic Palazzo Donn’Anna, and the concessions are valid for a two-year period.

One of the two lots at Baia Donn’Anna, spanning 1,183 square meters, was awarded to Bagno Elena, the long-standing concessionaire of that stretch of beach. Bagno Elena srl was the sole bidder after Blu Beach, a Spa based in Lombardy, was excluded due to missing documentation. Bagno Elena scored the maximum 22 points for its project proposal and management plan, offering a 1,404% increase on the base auction fee, totaling 53,015 euros annually, excluding the regional additional tax.

For the second lot at Baia Donn’Anna, covering 1,154 square meters, the competition was between Ideal, the outgoing operator, and Even More by Edoardo Trotta, owner of Palazzo Petrucci, a restaurant overlooking the beach. Even More was initially excluded for documentary deficiencies but was later readmitted by the TAR (Regional Administrative Court) with a precautionary decree.

Ideal ultimately won, primarily due to a higher score for its previous experience and various certifications. Economically, Ideal offered an annual fee of 67,000 euros, an 1,800.71% increase on the base auction fee of 3,524 euros. Even More had offered a 2,100% increase, but this was calculated on an incorrect base amount of 3,204 euros instead of 3,524 euros, according to the commission.

Romeo Alberghi: A New Player in Naples Beach Concessions

The most notable change among the concessionaires is the arrival of Romeo Alberghi srl, which secured the 504-square-meter lot adjacent to the free beach of Le Monache, with shared access from a condominium. Romeo Alberghi boasts a social capital of one million euros and 130 employees. The chairman of the board is Alfredo Romeo, who also represents the company, with Diego Romeo serving as a director. Romeo Partecipazioni Spa is the sole shareholder.

Romeo Alberghi prevailed over Bagno Sirena, the historical operator of that beach section. Romeo’s project proposal received the maximum 22 points for quality. Their economic offer, an impressive 3,502.85% increase on the base auction fee, amounts to 127,000 euros. Bagno Sirena had proposed 20,000 euros.

Future Developments and Broader Plans for Naples Coastline

The new concessionaires are expected to set up their equipment on the beaches within a few weeks, following the completion of checks and verifications, once the definitive awards are finalized. Compared to a year ago, there will be an additional stretch of free beach at Donn’Anna.

In related news, the Port Authority, the Municipality, and the Port Captaincy met yesterday to plan the tender for mooring and buoy concessions in the city’s waters. These concessions are currently extended and are set to expire on December 31. Eliseo Cuccaro, President of the Port Authority, stated, “We are working to initiate the tender procedures as early as July.”

This initiative reflects a broader effort to manage and enhance Naples’ coastal resources, ensuring both economic viability and public access to its beautiful beaches.
