Fire Engulfs Cosmetics Warehouse in Corsico

Corsico, Milan, May 25 – A significant fire broke out yesterday afternoon, Sunday, May 24, at an external warehouse belonging to the cosmetics company “Vitalfarco Hair Cosmetics” located at Via Canova 8 in Corsico, a municipality in the Milan metropolitan area. Seven teams from the Milan Fire Department were dispatched to the scene around 2:30 PM to combat the blaze.

Specialized Unit Deployed Due to Chemical Reactions

The incident necessitated the deployment of a specialized NBCR (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, and Radiological) unit. This was due to concerns over potential micro-explosions caused by the reaction of cosmetic products containing ammonia with water during firefighting efforts. The presence of these chemicals added complexity to the operation, requiring careful handling and assessment by the specialized team.

No Casualties Reported in the Blaze

Fortunately, no individuals were reported to be involved or injured in the fire. This positive outcome is largely attributed to the fact that the industrial zone, where the warehouse is situated, was closed for the Sunday holiday, meaning no personnel were present at the time the fire ignited.

Fire Under Control, Cleanup Operations Underway

Firefighters successfully brought the flames under control, and as of late yesterday evening, cleanup and remediation operations of the affected area had commenced. The swift and coordinated response of the fire brigades played a crucial role in containing the fire and preventing further damage.

The extent of the material damage to the warehouse and its contents is currently being assessed. Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are expected to follow, as authorities work to determine how the blaze started at the Vitalfarco Hair Cosmetics facility.

This incident marks another significant fire in the Milanese area, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by emergency services in managing such events, particularly those involving industrial facilities with potentially hazardous materials.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the ongoing investigation.
