Rome, April 15, 2026 – The 21st edition of the Rome Science Festival, dedicated to the theme “Chaos and Harmony,” officially opens its doors today, April 15, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. The festival, which runs until April 19, promises five days of conferences, workshops, exhibitions, theatrical readings, shows, and events designed for all ages, including families.

Nobel Laureate Giorgio Parisi to Headline Opening Day

The inaugural event will take place this afternoon at 5:00 PM at AuditoriumArte, featuring a distinguished panel including Raffaele Ranucci, CEO of Fondazione Musica per Roma, Nobel laureate for Physics Giorgio Parisi, and Enrico Alleva, an ethologist, member of the Accademia dei Lincei, and Vice President of the Superior Health Council. Following the opening ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity for a guided tour of the exhibitions and exhibits curated by the festival’s partner organizations.

Later, at the Teatro Studio Borgna, Parisi and Alleva will engage in “Encounter with Science,” a conversation exploring the intricate relationship between intellectual freedom, scientific rigor, and the openness to doubt, central to scientific discovery.

“Chaos and Harmony”: A Multidisciplinary Exploration

This year’s theme, “Chaos and Harmony,” stems from the compelling idea that the universe and life itself are products of transformations, disorder, symmetries, and opportunities. The festival aims to provide a multidisciplinary and transversal journey, a hallmark of the event, bringing together scientists, journalists, and intellectuals to delve into the profound connections between chaos and harmony across various fields.

The festival’s rich program includes a diverse array of prominent guests, such as Guido Tonelli, Licia Troisi, Marco Malvaldi, Michela Matteoli, Beatrice Mautino, Serena Dandini, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Rancore, ensuring a wide range of perspectives and discussions.

Extensive Educational Program for Schools and Families

A significant focus of the festival remains its comprehensive educational program, designed for primary and secondary school students. This initiative features engaging activities, experiments, and games specifically crafted to explore the world of science and foster STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) skills. These educational efforts are crucial in inspiring the next generation of scientists and critical thinkers.

In addition to the main events at the Auditorium, the festival extends its reach through collaborations with the Istituzione Sistema Biblioteche Centri Culturali di Roma Capitale and Explora – Il Museo dei Bambini di Roma, offering additional workshops and activities across the city. Over the weekend, the program will expand further to include family-oriented events, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to providing engaging content for diverse audiences, from young children to adults.

Promoters and Partners Driving Scientific Engagement

The Rome Science Festival is a collaborative effort, produced by Fondazione Musica per Roma with the strategic project partnership of Codice Produzioni. It is proudly promoted by Roma Capitale – Assessorato alla Cultura and realized with the invaluable contributions of CNR (National Research Council), INAF (National Institute for Astrophysics), and INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics). A broad network of scientific, cultural, and institutional partners further supports the festival, including ENEA, ESA, INGV, ISPRA, Human Technopole, IIT, Fondazione Bioparco di Roma, and Museo Galileo. This extensive collaboration underscores the festival’s commitment to fostering scientific literacy and engagement within the community.

The festival’s sustained success and growth are a testament to the dedication of these organizations in making science accessible and exciting for everyone.
