Worker Dies in Industrial Accident in Naples

Naples, June 3, 2026 – A 63-year-old man tragically died yesterday afternoon in an industrial accident at a factory located on Via Fasano, in the eastern part of Naples. The victim was reportedly struck by a heavy vehicle during a maneuvering operation. Despite immediate attempts to provide assistance, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Investigations Underway

Officers from the General Prevention Office of the Naples Police Headquarters promptly arrived at the site to initiate preliminary investigations into the incident. The labor inspectorate is also conducting its own checks to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident and to determine whether safety regulations were adhered to.

Union Calls for Stricter Controls and Repression Against Workplace Deaths

Nicola Ricci, General Secretary of CGIL Naples and Campania, expressed profound concern following this incident, noting it as the second workplace fatality in the Naples metropolitan area within 48 hours. Ricci emphasized the urgent need to strengthen control and prevention measures in complex work environments and to swiftly identify those responsible.

“This is not just about verifying violations of safety regulations, such as the failure to adopt protective devices or provide staff training, but also about fostering a cultural shift in how entrepreneurship is conducted,” Ricci stated. He extended condolences to the families affected by these tragedies and pledged the union’s support in any legal proceedings aimed at determining causes and responsibilities.

The union leader highlighted the continuous string of fatalities, referring to them as an “endless massacre,” and called for immediate action to prevent further loss of life in the workplace.

Details of the Incident

The accident occurred while the heavy vehicle was performing a maneuver within the industrial premises. The exact dynamics of how the worker came to be in the path of the vehicle are still under investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

The factory, whose name has not been disclosed, is located in an industrial zone of Naples. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about workplace safety in Italy, particularly in sectors involving heavy machinery and complex operations.

The local community and labor organizations are awaiting the full findings of the investigations, hoping that accountability will be established and measures implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. The focus remains on ensuring that all necessary safety protocols are rigorously followed to protect workers’ lives.
