Ercolano, Naples: Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder in Love Triangle

Ercolano, Naples, February 27, 2026 – A 25-year-old woman has been placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, six months after a brutal stabbing incident in Ercolano that left another woman fighting for her life. The arrest, executed by Carabinieri from Lodi and Ercolano, follows an investigation into an alleged attempted murder fueled by a love triangle.

The Night of the Attack: August 5, 2025

The events unfolded on the night of August 5, 2025, at approximately 11:00 PM. Carabinieri responded to a call on Via Marittima, near a parking lot overlooking the pier in Ercolano. They found a woman, identified as ‘Anna’ (a fictitious name), bleeding from stab wounds to her left thigh and glute. She was immediately rushed to the “Maresca” hospital in Torre del Greco.

Medical examinations revealed a “puncture wound to the upper third of the dorsal region of the left thigh, a puncture wound to the left flank, a thigh hematoma, and a progressive drop in hemoglobin.” The initial prognosis was 20 days, but the situation was far more critical. Radiological assessments showed the stab wound traveled from bottom to top and from outside to inside, narrowly missing vital organs by mere centimeters. The weapon, a large kitchen knife, was recovered and seized at the scene.

A Relationship Unresolved

Interviewed in the hospital, Anna recounted having arranged to meet ‘Carla’ (another fictitious name), an acquaintance with whom she had long-standing tensions. The root of their dispute was a shared ex-girlfriend, ‘Marina’ (a third fictitious name). The relationship, though over, had never been emotionally resolved, leading to persistent animosity between Anna and Carla.

According to the investigative reconstruction, corroborated by messages found on the suspect’s mobile phone, the meeting was intended as a clarification. However, after a heated exchange of words, Carla allegedly attacked Anna with punches before drawing the knife and stabbing her twice: once in the anterior region between the left flank and the base of the thigh, and a second time posteriorly, between the glute and the same thigh area.

Witness Testimonies and Evidence

Several friends of the victim, present at a distance, confirmed witnessing the altercation and being aware of the planned meeting. Their testimonies, combined with technical findings and the seizure of the weapon, enabled the Carabinieri to reconstruct the dynamics and motive of the attack.

The suspect was identified through a database and located at her home the following day. While personal and home searches yielded no other weapons, kitchen knives similar to the one used in the assault were found. Her mobile phone was seized for further investigative analysis.

Arrest and Charges

The 25-year-old, originally from Portici but residing in Lodi, has now been placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. She faces grave charges of attempted murder. The investigation was coordinated by the IV section of the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office, specializing in “vulnerable groups.”

This incident highlights the serious consequences that can arise from unresolved emotional conflicts, particularly when compounded by violence. The local authorities continue to monitor the situation as legal proceedings move forward.
