Two 15-year-old girls found safe in Rome after disappearing from Melito

A day and a night of anxious waiting ended with relief for the families of two 15-year-old girls, Anna A. and Laura F., who disappeared yesterday afternoon from Melito. The girls, who reside in Melito with their families, had gone out for a stroll in the town center and were last seen in via Roma, near a bank, around 5:00 PM.

Disappearance and initial search efforts

After 5:00 PM, all contact with the girls was lost, and their mobile phones became unreachable. A friend of the families posted on Facebook, stating, “They wanted to go to the ‘Al Molino’ Shopping Center. Anna was wearing a red and blue tracksuit and carrying a gym bag. Laura was wearing black leggings, a black sweatshirt, and a black jacket.”

A formal complaint was filed with the police, who immediately initiated an investigation. Law enforcement officials interviewed witnesses and reviewed local surveillance camera footage to gather any useful information regarding the girls’ movements. The aim was to ascertain whether they had been approached by anyone or had accepted a ride in a car.

The discovery in Rome

According to reports from NapoliToday, the two friends were found today. They were located in Rome, the capital, and both were in good health. They are expected to be reunited with their families soon, bringing an end to the worrying ordeal.

Community and police response

The disappearance sparked concern within the local community, with many sharing the information on social media to aid in the search. The swift action of the police, including examining CCTV footage and interviewing potential witnesses, played a crucial role in the successful outcome.

Further details regarding the circumstances of their journey to Rome have not yet been released, but the primary focus remains on their safe return home.

This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting to law enforcement in cases of missing persons, especially minors.
