Six Arrests and One Complaint in Rome and Province for Drug Dealing
Rome, January 18, 2026 – The State Police have concluded a series of operations aimed at combating drug dealing in the capital and its province, resulting in six arrests and one complaint. The decisive factor in two of the arrests was information provided by citizens through the YouPol application.
Investigations Lead to First Arrest in Commercial Establishment
The first arrest was made following an investigation by agents of the III Fidene-Serpentara District. In a commercial establishment ostensibly selling legal hemp, a young man was found to be hiding nine blocks of hashish, weighing almost 900 grams.
Earlier, police had observed a ‘customer’ entering the shop and leaving with a bag, which he then placed in his car. Noticing he was being followed, the young man attempted to discard the contents by throwing them into the street. Inside, 20 grams of hashish and 10 grams of cocaine were found. This discovery led to a search of the premises, the seizure of the drugs, and the arrest of the individual responsible.
Off-Duty Officers Witness Drug Exchange, Lead to Second Arrest
Another intervention arose from the vigilance of two off-duty officers from the VII San Giovanni District, who witnessed a drug-money exchange in the Porta Furba area. With the support of an assisting patrol, the man and the car he was driving were subjected to a check. Drugs were found hidden inside the handbrake, while 370 euros in cash, for which the driver could not provide a legitimate explanation, were discovered in the sun visor.
Further Arrests in Torpignattara and Tor Bella Monaca
Two more arrests were carried out by agents of the Flying Squad in separate operations in Torpignattara and Tor Bella Monaca. In the first instance, the stopped man was found to be concealing ten doses of crack and cocaine, along with 615 euros in cash, in his underwear. In the second incident, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended with 27 doses of crack, 10 doses of cocaine, and 450 euros.
Arrest Near Sant’Andrea Hospital
A fourth arrest was made by investigators from the Flaminio Police Station near Sant’Andrea Hospital. The man, who was observed repeatedly circling the access roundabout to the healthcare facility, was found to have 30 doses of cocaine hidden in his underwear. He is now seriously indicted for the crime of possession for the purpose of drug dealing.
YouPol App Instrumental in Final Two Arrests
Finally, the use of the YouPol application by citizens proved crucial for the last two arrests. Thanks to an initial report, agents from the XI San Paolo District arrested a man in the Ponte Galeria area. Approximately 200 grams of cocaine, 11 blocks of hashish weighing over one kilogram, and 10,000 euros stored in vacuum-sealed bags were seized from his home and garage. A second report, collected by agents from the Frascati Police Station, led to a man being reported after he was found in possession of approximately 90 grams of hashish in a jar in his living room.
These operations underscore the ongoing commitment of the State Police to combat drug dealing and highlight the effectiveness of citizen collaboration through digital tools like YouPol in ensuring public safety.
