Seven Drug Pushers Arrested in Rome: Ingenious Hiding Places Uncovered
Rome, May 16 – Seven individuals have been arrested for drug dealing in various districts of the capital. The arrests were carried out by the State Police, who neutralized pushers active in Rome’s north-west and south-east quadrants through a series of targeted interventions in recent hours.
Anti-drug Operation in the Capital’s Districts
According to information published on the State Police website, the operation took place in various Rome neighborhoods, including Appio, Tor Pignattara, Romanina, Primavalle, and Piazza Sempione. Agents identified and dismantled several ingenious systems used by pushers to hide drugs and make them easily accessible for trafficking and open-air sales.
First Arrest: Quick Exchange in the Appio District
The first incident occurred in the Appio district, where agents caught a pusher during a ‘cash & delivery’ exchange. The transaction, which took place in a few seconds through a car window, was documented by investigators. Agents intervened promptly, blocking both the pusher and the buyer. The former was arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, while the consumer received an administrative sanction and a report to the Prefecture.
During the search, the pusher was found in possession of 26 doses of hashish and cocaine, which he extracted from his underwear or from a magnetized box hidden in the car’s wheel arch.
The Drug ‘Rider’ in Tor Pignattara
The second arrest involved a true drug ‘rider,’ identified in the Tor Pignattara area. The man was transporting a block of hashish, already labeled and ready for distribution. Investigators discovered that he used a smartphone to organize appointments, plan deliveries, and manage contacts with clients, adopting methods similar to those of delivery platforms.
A subsequent home search uncovered additional mobile phones used for managing client traffic, another block of hashish, drug-cutting tools, money of dubious origin, and handwritten notes related to the illicit activity’s accounting.
Two Arrests Between Romanina and Primavalle: Drugs Hidden in Cars and Shoes
Two other pushers were arrested in separate interventions in the Romanina and Primavalle areas while traveling in a rental car. In the first case, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 21 doses of cocaine, packaged in heat-sealed wrappers and hidden along with packaging material.
In the second episode, the pusher had concealed doses of cocaine and crack inside sneakers equipped with a custom-made false bottom, demonstrating considerable inventiveness in attempting to evade controls.
Arrests in Piazza Sempione: Open-Air Deliveries
The last two arrests took place in Piazza Sempione, where two young men were stopped by agents from the Volanti and the III Fidene Serpentara District. The two were in a green area, used as a meeting point with clients for ‘open-air’ deliveries. During the check, they were found in possession of 19 wrappers of hashish and cash of dubious origin. Both were arrested for possession for the purpose of dealing narcotics.
All arrests have been validated by the Judicial Authority. The operation conducted in recent hours confirms the widespread nature of drug dealing in various districts of Rome. The methods adopted by pushers, increasingly sophisticated and inspired by home delivery services, represent a constant challenge for law enforcement, committed to combating drug trafficking and ensuring citizen safety.
