Rome, March 17, 2026 – The latest AMA Trends report for January and February 2026 confirms a positive trend in the provision of environmental services in the Capital. This was certified by AMA Trends, a detailed report prepared by the company’s technical structures using the integrated digital system U.C.R.O.N.I.A., which certifies the state of urban waste management in Rome.
Significant Increase in Waste Collection
In January 2026, the total amount of waste collected (unsorted, paper, plastic, glass, food and organic waste, bulky materials) increased by 5% compared to the same month in 2025: from 141,916 to 149,041 tons. In the same comparison, the percentage of separate waste collection also grew by +0.6%: from 48.98% in January 2025 to 49.6% in January 2026.
However, a decrease was recorded in February of this year in the waste collected during the “Ama il tuo quartiere” campaign appointments, amounting to 319,479 tons compared to 403,713 tons in February 2025.
Increased Access to AMA Collection Centers
One particular statistic stands out for February 2026: an 8.3% increase in access to AMA Collection Centers. During the period examined, 90,909 Romans utilized this free service, compared to 83,920 recorded in February 2025. This upward trend confirms citizens’ participation in correctly disposing of recyclable materials.
AMA’s Stance on Transparency and Citizen Engagement
According to Bruno Manzi, President of the Capitoline Municipal Company for the Environment, «with the AMA Trends bulletin, the company intends to transparently show Romans the performance of its activities. Strong growth data, such as the increase in access to Collection Centers, demonstrates, for example, how proximity services are an extremely important resource for ensuring urban decorum and intercepting ever-larger quantities of materials to be sent for recycling.»
