Rome Guitar Series: New Concert Festival Highlights the Guitar’s Expressive Potential
Rome, March 26, 2026 – The Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti (IUC) has announced the launch of the ‘Rome Guitar Series,’ a new concert festival aimed at showcasing the history, identity, and expressive potential of the guitar. This instrument, with its long and extraordinary tradition, often finds limited space in symphonic and chamber music seasons despite its widespread popularity.
The series, curated in collaboration with Gian Marco Ciampa, will feature three events held at Sala Caetani, located on Viale Mazzini. The inaugural concert is scheduled for March 27 at 8:30 PM.
International Artists to Grace the Stage
The ‘Rome Guitar Series’ will present acclaimed international artists who represent both the current excellence and the future of the guitar. The opening night will feature Julia Trintschuk, a young and accomplished German guitarist and winner of several prestigious international competitions. Trintschuk will perform a collection of ‘treasures’ from diverse musical worlds, unified by their strong emotional charge and deep connection to the guitar, ranging from Latin American songs to the works of Astor Piazzolla.
The second concert, set for April 10 at 8:30 PM, will mark the Roman debut of the duo formed by Gian Marco Ciampa and Pietro Locatto. Both artists are internationally recognized and will take the audience on a musical journey through Spain and France. Their program will include original transcriptions of compositions by Albéniz, Moreno-Torroba, de Falla, Turina, Debussy, and Ibert, all arranged by the duo themselves.
The final event of the series, on April 16 at 8:30 PM, will showcase Australian guitarist Campbell Diamond. A winner of numerous international competitions, Diamond will present a program that spans various eras, styles, and musical languages. His performance will range from the sophistication of Baroque music to the expressive richness of the 20th century, and will also incorporate the vibrant colors of Brazilian popular music.
A Platform for the Guitar
The IUC’s initiative aims to provide a dedicated platform for the guitar, allowing audiences to appreciate its versatility and depth. By bringing together such a diverse and talented group of musicians, the ‘Rome Guitar Series’ seeks to elevate the instrument’s profile within the classical music landscape and beyond.
The concerts promise to be a captivating experience for guitar enthusiasts and music lovers alike, offering a unique opportunity to explore the instrument’s vast repertoire and witness performances by some of the world’s leading guitarists.
