Rome Foundation Village Honors Crans Montana Fire Victims with Home Dedications
Rome, May 28 – Six residences within the Rome Foundation Village, a facility dedicated to the care of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients, have been formally named in honor of six young individuals who tragically lost their lives in the Crans Montana fire. The official dedication ceremony took place yesterday, attended by the victims’ families, as announced in a statement by the Foundation.
The homes now bear the names of Achille Barosi, Chiara Costanzo, Emanuele Galeppini, Riccardo Minghetti, Sofia Prosperi, and Giovanni Tamburi. This decision, recently made by the Rome Foundation’s Board of Directors and fully supported by the families, aims to provide a tangible testament to memory and hope.
A Collective Act of Remembrance and Hope
In a joint statement, the families expressed their profound sentiments: “Our lives were indelibly marked by the tragedy that overwhelmed us, and it would have been easy to succumb to despair and resentment. Instead, we challenged ourselves, deciding to honor the memory of our children by making the light of their smiles so bright as to eclipse the darkness of our despair. In recent months, we have drawn closer to each other and supported one another so much that we perceive ourselves as a single family.”
The ceremony was officiated by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. Since its establishment in 2018, the Village has provided free accommodation to over 300 individuals, offering a unique socio-assistance model specifically designed for patients with moderate Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
Mural Unveiled as a Symbol of Enduring Memory
Adding to the poignant tribute, an impressive mural by the Italian-Filipino artist Jerico was unveiled in the main square of the village. The artwork stylized portraits of the six young individuals, serving as a lasting visual reminder of their lives.

The Rome Foundation Village, located in Rome, Lazio, Italy, is renowned for its innovative approach to care for individuals suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.
