Remo Remotti Park Inaugurated in Montesacro Alto, Rome
Rome, April 24, 2026 – A new park located in Via Renato Fucini, at the intersection with Via Umberto Fracchia, in the Montesacro Alto district of Rome, has been officially named after the esteemed Italian artist Remo Remotti. The dedication ceremony for the new topographical plaque took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 22, 2026.
The event was attended by Massimiliano Smeriglio, Councillor for Culture of Roma Capitale, Luca Blasi, Councillor for Culture of the III Municipality, members of Remotti’s family, including his daughter Federica Remotti, and numerous prominent figures from Italian cinema and culture, such as Sabina Guzzanti, Stefano Fresi, Massimiliano Bruno, Michela Andreozzi, and Tommaso Zanello, known as “Piotta.”
A Tribute to an Unconventional Roman Artist
The initiative aimed to honor one of the most original and unconventional figures in Roman culture of the second half of the twentieth century. Born in Rome in 1924 and passed away in 2015, Remo Remotti was an actor, poet, and visual artist. He was widely known for his cinematic and television performances, as well as for a literary and performative body of work characterized by an ironic, provocative, and deeply Roman language.
Through the naming of this park, Rome sought to commemorate an artist capable of traversing various artistic languages and disciplines while always maintaining a personal and recognizable style. Beyond his acting career, Remotti was active in painting, sculpture, poetry, and performance art, contributing significantly to the creation of an independent cultural landscape.
Among his most notable works are texts and monologues that have entered popular lexicon, known for their ability to recount the vices and contradictions of contemporary society with a disenchanted gaze. Piotta, the singer from Monte Sacro, expressed his sentiments in an Instagram post, stating, “I think Remo would be happy to know that on that lawn someone will kiss, fall in love, play, bring children, and talk about life and art, perhaps about poetry or painting as in our…colors.”
