Rome, May 28, 2026 – The inaugural Regina Viarum Festival, a five-day celebration of the Appian Way’s rich cultural and historical significance, has concluded with resounding success, drawing over 1,500 spectators to its musical events and engaging hundreds more in various activities. Promoted by the Lazio Region and the Councillor for Tourism, Environment, and Sport, Elena Palazzo, the festival aimed to re-establish the Appian Way as a pivotal cultural, tourist, and identity infrastructure for the region.
The festival, which took place from Rome to Minturno, offered a diverse program encompassing walks, music, archaeology, culture, local flavors, and identity. Its comprehensive approach sought to highlight the ancient road not merely as a historical and archaeological trace but as a narrative element of Lazio’s territory and its communities.

Beyond the impressive turnout for musical performances, the festival recorded substantial participation in other planned activities:

- 20 urban sketchers captured the beauty of the landscapes.

The event also received a positive response from local producers, with 20 businesses showcasing their territorial excellences through tastings and dedicated spaces. A particular focus was placed on younger generations, with over 100 students participating in educational and workshop activities on the concluding day in Itri.
