Polizia di Stato and Fiera Milano Renew Cybersecurity Agreement to Protect Critical Infrastructure
Milan, Lombardy, Italy – A significant agreement aimed at bolstering cybersecurity and protecting critical infrastructure was renewed yesterday, February 4, 2026, between the Department of Public Security and Fiera Milano. The partnership focuses on preventing and combating cybercrimes that could affect the systems of Italy’s primary exhibition entity.
The signing ceremony took place at the Planisfero Hall of Palazzo Cimarra in Rome. Luigi Rinella, Central Director for Scientific Police and Cybersecurity, and Francesco Conci, CEO and General Manager of Fiera Milano, formalized the renewed collaboration.
Strategic Importance for National Security and Major Events
This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to enhance prevention activities for critical national infrastructures, adhering to current regulations and strategic guidelines on cybersecurity. The agreement holds particular importance given the upcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, where Fiera Milano will host significant competitions.
Fiera Milano, a prominent international exhibition and congress operator listed on Euronext Milan’s Star segment, has been managing global events and strategic technological infrastructures for Italy since 2002. The company is committed to maintaining high standards of excellence.
Structured Collaboration for Information Sharing and Operational Cooperation
The renewed convention establishes a structured and continuous collaboration based on shared security principles, information exchange, and operational cooperation. Its primary objective is to facilitate the sharing and analysis of information to prevent and counter cyberattacks or damage to Fiera Milano’s critical systems. It also ensures timely reporting of vulnerabilities, threats, and incidents that could compromise the regularity of telecommunication services.
Operational activities will be managed by CNAIPIC (National Anti-Cybercrime Centre for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures) of the Postal Police Service and Cybersecurity, in synergy with Fiera Milano’s Security Directorate. A strong emphasis will also be placed on training, with joint initiatives designed to develop cyber skills, enhance knowledge of employed technologies, and refine intervention procedures.
Strengthening Public-Private Cooperation for Collective Benefit
This agreement marks a further step in strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors to safeguard computerized critical infrastructures. It contributes to enhancing the security of essential services for the benefit of the entire community.
Luigi Rinella commented, “The Polizia di Stato continues its commitment to strengthen the protection of national digital infrastructures through stable and qualified cooperation models with the private sector. The synergy with Fiera Milano continues, with the aim of further elevating the levels of prevention and response to cyber threats, to protect the continuity of services and the security of the national system.”
Francesco Conci stated, “The renewal of this convention represents a fundamental strategic step for Fiera Milano. Our information systems and digital infrastructures supporting the organization and management of large international events are now, to all intents and purposes, infrastructures of national interest and, as such, require increasingly high levels of protection and prevention. The structured collaboration with the Ministry allows us to strengthen our ability to prevent and counter cyber threats that could compromise the operational continuity of events, the security, and the overall reliability of our exhibition system. For Fiera Milano, investing in security means protecting all the people, businesses, and institutions that choose our events every year, while contributing to the resilience of the national system and Italy’s credibility as a secure and reliable platform for internationally significant events.”
