Rome, June 10, 2026 – A new facility dedicated to the reception and support of socially vulnerable individuals has been inaugurated in Ostia, on Lungomare Paolo Toscanelli. Named “Stazione di Posta” (Post Station), the structure aims to offer support services, orientation, and accompaniment towards autonomy for those experiencing marginalization or socio-economic hardship. This initiative is part of the “Reset – Stazioni di Posta” and “Un tetto con cura – Housing First” projects, promoted by Roma Capitale within the framework of interventions funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Reception and Social Inclusion
The new social outpost was created by the Department of Social Policies and Health of Roma Capitale, in collaboration with Roma Solidarietà – Società Cooperativa and the Italian Red Cross – Metropolitan Area Committee of Rome. The objective is not only to guarantee a place of reception but also to build personalized paths of social and professional inclusion, capable of accompanying individuals towards the recovery of autonomy and personal dignity.
The Housing First Model
At the heart of the project is the Housing First approach, already tested in other municipalities of the Capital. This model identifies housing as the starting point for addressing conditions of hardship and promoting the social reintegration of homeless individuals or those experiencing particular economic and social difficulties. The idea is to first offer stable and secure accommodation, and then build a path of support, assistance, and inclusion around the person.
Official Statements Highlight Importance
According to the Mayor of Rome, the new structure represents not only the recovery of an urban space thanks to PNRR resources but, above all, the creation of a place capable of offering services, listening, and concrete opportunities to those in vulnerable conditions. The Department of Social Policies also underlined the value of the intervention, highlighting how the new facility contributes to strengthening the network of social services in Ostia and across the entire Capital. The structure is conceived as a proximity point, able to accompany the most vulnerable individuals towards paths of autonomy and social re-inclusion.
A Widespread Network of Support
The opening of the Stazione di Posta is part of a broader program to strengthen urban social services financed by the PNRR. The objective of the Capitoline administration is to build an increasingly widespread network of assistance and support in various municipalities, capable of identifying people’s needs and offering concrete responses to situations of greater vulnerability.
The structure is expected to provide essential aid to the community, fostering a more inclusive environment for all residents.
