NARDÒ, December 22 – The 16th theatrical season of the Municipal Theatre in Nardò (Lecce) continues tonight, December 22nd, with the second event of the ‘Mettiamoci all’Opera’ series. This concert opera section, a collaboration between the Municipality of Nardò and Puglia Culture with TerramMare Teatro, is dedicated this year to the composer Pietro Mascagni. Tonight’s performance, ‘Opera Mia – Napoli Opera House,’ will present ‘Eternamente Napoli,’ a narrated concert that celebrates classic Neapolitan songs.

A Journey Through Two Centuries of Neapolitan Song

The performance will feature the talents of Maria Luisa Lattante, Enrico Guerra, Luca De Lorenzo, and Ekland Hasa. ‘Eternamente Napoli’ offers a captivating journey through two centuries of Neapolitan musical history, presenting a rich tapestry of sound and poetry. The repertoire spans iconic pieces such as ‘Fenesta che lucive,’ ‘Core ‘ngrato,’ ”O marenariello,’ and ‘Torna a Surriento.’ This selection beautifully intertwines high art with popular voice, expressing both melancholy and passion, ultimately forming a collective identity and universal appeal.

Voices, Anecdotes, and Forgotten Gems

Three vocalists-a soprano, a tenor, and a baritone-will be accompanied by a piano. Their performances will be interspersed with engaging stories, historical anecdotes, and archival documents, painting a vivid portrait of Naples as a city of art, soul, and memory. Beyond the well-known classics, the concert will also bring to light forgotten gems, once cherished by composers like Cimarosa and Tosti, and performed in European salons and on emigrant ships. This cultivated and passionate tribute honors a tradition that continues to deeply move audiences today.
