Naples Expects Record 680,000 Tourists for June 2nd Holiday Weekend
NAPLES, May 29, 2026, 17:11 – Naples is preparing for an unprecedented wave of tourism, with forecasts indicating that over 680,000 visitors are expected to arrive for the long holiday weekend extending until June 2nd. This figure represents a new record, surpassing the already impressive numbers recorded during the May 1st holiday, which saw over 48,000 visitors, and April 25th, which attracted 514,000.
The city’s hotels and bed and breakfasts are reporting continuous bookings, signaling a strong performance for the tourism sector. This surge is attributed not only to international visitors but also to a significant number of Italian tourists who, due to international tensions, are opting to explore domestic destinations like Naples. The city offers a compelling combination of natural beauty, important cultural sites, and delicious food, all at relatively affordable prices.
A City Brimming with Events and Attractions
Starting June 1st, Naples will kick off a rich calendar of patron saint festivals, promoted by the city’s Department of Tourism. These 26 scheduled celebrations aim to revive ancient traditions, blending faith and culture. From May 30th to June 2nd, tourists will also have the opportunity to visit the National Museum and the Capodimonte Museum, where the surrounding park has already become a popular spot for those seeking respite from the early arrival of warm weather.
For panoramic views of the city, visitors can ascend Mount Echia via a convenient lift or explore the rooftops of the Duomo, with access just steps away from the San Gennaro Treasure Museum, which will be open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sunday.
Celebrating the Republic with Culture and Music
On June 2nd, at 6:30 PM, the San Carlo Theater will host a free concert titled “For the 80th Anniversary of the Republic.” Organized by the Prefect, Michele di Bari, and the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, in collaboration with the Superintendent and Artistic Director of San Carlo, Fulvio Macciardi, the event is open to the public. The Orchestra of the Neapolitan Massimo, conducted by Donato Renzetti, will perform symphonies, opera arias, and duets, featuring tenor Matteo Macchioni and baritone Pietro Spagnoli.
To assist tourists with city tours and provide information on key events, four info points are available in Piazza Plebiscito, Piazza del Gesù, Via Morghen, and Molo Angioino. These points operate daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
This record-breaking forecast underscores Naples’ growing appeal as a premier tourist destination, offering a blend of historical richness, vibrant culture, and culinary delights that continues to captivate visitors.
