Milan is preparing to celebrate the Easter holidays in the name of art and culture. For Easter 2026, the Municipality is offering a wide range of special openings for museums and exhibition venues, providing residents and visitors with numerous opportunities to discover the city’s artistic heritage.

Easter Sunday: Free Entry to Civic Museums

On Sunday, April 5th, Easter Sunday and the first Sunday of the month, Milan’s civic museums will be open free of charge as part of the “Domenica al Museo” initiative. This offers a unique opportunity to enjoy complimentary access to some of Milan’s most important cultural institutions.

Visitors will be able to explore the collections of the Sforza Castle, the Civic Aquarium, the GAM Gallery of Modern Art, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Twentieth Century, and the Museum of Natural History. Additionally, Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, Palazzo Moriggia | Museo del Risorgimento, and Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano will also be open with free admission.

MUDEC and Special Exhibitions for Easter

The MUDEC Museum of Cultures is also participating, offering free admission to both its permanent collection and the exhibition “The Sense of Snow” on Easter Sunday. However, on Monday, April 6th, only the exhibition “100 Photographs to Inherit the World” will remain open to visitors, with other sections having modified opening hours.

Easter Monday: Civic Museums Closed, Other Venues Open

On Monday, April 6th, Easter Monday, all civic museums will be closed. Despite this, the city’s cultural offerings will continue thanks to other exhibition venues remaining open.

Among the main cultural centers open both on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday is the Palazzo Reale, which hosts four significant exhibitions: “Anselm Kiefer. The Alchemists,” “The Macchiaioli,” “Metaphysics / Metaphysical,” and “Robert Mapplethorpe. The Forms of Desire.” The PAC Pavilion of Contemporary Art will also be open on both days, featuring Marco Fusinato’s exhibition “The only true anarchy is that of power”.

Fabbrica del Vapore and GAM: Art for Everyone

Fabbrica del Vapore will welcome visitors on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday with three free exhibitions: “Water and Peaks,” “Stefano Zardini. A Visionary at Altitude,” and “Macro Pop.” The GAM Galleria d’Arte Moderna presents the exhibition “Paul Troubetzkoy. The Sculptor of the Belle Époque,” which can be visited exclusively on Easter Sunday.

A Widespread Cultural Offering for Milan

This extensive Easter program underscores the Municipality’s commitment to enhancing Milan’s cultural heritage and ensuring accessible opportunities for its enjoyment for all.
