Milan, June 15, 2026 – The city of Milan is preparing to host the second edition of the ‘Milano Mountain Show,’ an event dedicated to celebrating the mountains and their diverse activities. Scheduled from October 24 to 29, the show will be held at Palazzo della Regione, with Piazza Lombardia serving as the primary venue for the initial days.
Piazza Lombardia Transforms into a Mountain Sports Arena
For the first two days of the event, October 24 and 25, Piazza Lombardia will be completely transformed to showcase a variety of outdoor mountain sports. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a ski slope, a cross-country skiing track, and a biathlon course. In addition to these winter sports, the show will also feature a downhill biking trail and a golf simulator, highlighting the year-round appeal of mountain activities.
Michele Budelli, president of Fandango Club Creators and co-founder of the project with Cristian Celoria of PwC Italia, emphasized the event’s broader scope: “Yes, because the mountain is snow, but not only that. There are also many experiences that can be had in spring, summer, and autumn, and we want to give space to all of them. Our goal is to build a place for discussion among all those who live, promote, and tell the story of the mountains.”
A Week of Encounters and Discussions
Following the initial weekend, the focus will shift to the Auditorium Testori, which will host a series of meetings and discussions. Athletes, historians, tourism operators, chefs, fashion experts, sustainability advocates, and new technology specialists will take to the stage to share their insights and experiences related to the mountains.
A dedicated day on October 28 will see ‘Corriere della Sera’ take center stage, alongside Dolomiti SuperSki, with five meetings covering various topics. These include the preparation of ski slopes for both professional races and amateur enthusiasts, how to experience the mountains beyond sports (from cultural events to food and wine), future challenges in technology and sustainability, the evolution of fashion linked to skiing and trekking, and a review of the newspaper’s coverage of major mountaineering achievements over the past 150 years.
Expanding Reach and Engaging the Youth
The second edition of the ‘Milano Mountain Show’ aims to build upon the success of its inaugural event in 2025, which was held at the former Expo area and described as a “zero episode.” This year, the show seeks to involve an even wider range of stakeholders, from ski instructors and lift operators to various mountain communities. The organizers also plan to engage schools, inviting students to Palazzo Lombardia for educational trips where they can discover new sports disciplines alongside Italian national athletes.
Mattia Casse, a downhill skier from Alta Val di Susa, spoke at the presentation of the ‘Milano Mountain Show,’ sharing his personal connection to the mountains: “I come from Alta Val di Susa, I have lived the peaks fully in winter, thanks to skiing; while in summer I wondered: and now what do I do? Being able to tell all the opportunities that exist is important. When I am abroad – practically for a good part of the year – they always tell me: Italy? How beautiful Italy is. And in fact, as soon as I return home, I see that we have the most enchanting peaks.” Casse also expressed his ambition for the upcoming Olympics: “I train with a goal, to be able to have good races also in 4 years for the next Games that will be nearby, in France.”
Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics and the Future of Mountain Tourism
Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region, highlighted the connection between the event and the upcoming Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics: “Milano Mountain Show is one of the legacies of the Games and a strategic showcase to enhance the mountain in all its dimensions: sporting, environmental, and cultural. Our mountains, which cover 40% of the regional territory, offer sports all year round and host numerous events. The Lombard mountain is not just skiing: it is cycling, trekking, climbing, trail and much more.” These activities will be available for discovery and trial in October.
The ‘Milano Mountain Show’ promises to be a comprehensive celebration of mountain life, sports, and culture, offering a unique opportunity for Milanese residents and visitors to connect with the alpine world in the heart of the city.
