Airport Personnel Initiate Strikes on January 9th
The series of strikes commences on Friday, January 9th, with airport personnel at Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airports. Several trade unions have called for a 24-hour stoppage by Swissport Italia employees at Linate Airport. On the same day, from midnight to 11:59 PM, staff from Airport Handling at both Linate and Malpensa will also cease work. Additionally, Vueling Airlines flight attendants are scheduled for an eight-hour strike, and Easyjet cabin crew will strike for 24 hours.
Train Services to be Affected from January 10th
The disruption extends to rail services starting on Saturday, January 10th, with a 24-hour national strike by maintenance staff of FS Italia Group infrastructure. Trenitalia has advised passengers to check for updates before traveling, as cancellations and delays may occur before and after the official strike hours. Essential regional services will be guaranteed during peak hours: from 6 AM to 9 AM and from 6 PM to 9 PM on Saturday, January 10th.
Trenord Staff to Strike on January 12th
Further train disruptions are expected on Monday, January 12th, when Trenord personnel will strike for 23 hours, as reported by the Ministry of Transport. The strike, called by the Orsa union, will impact regional, suburban, airport, and long-distance Trenord services from 3 AM on January 12th to 2 AM on January 13th. Guaranteed service hours will be in effect from 6 AM to 9 AM and from 6 PM to 9 PM. For airport services, replacement buses will operate between Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport, departing from Via Paleocapa 1 in Milan Cadorna, and between Stabio and Malpensa Airport for the S50 connection.
ATM Public Transport Strike on January 15th
The month of industrial action concludes with a strike by ATM, Milan’s public transport company, scheduled for January 15th, called by Al Cobas. ATM will ensure service during two specific time slots, typically from opening until 8:45 AM/9 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM, though official timings are yet to be published on their institutional website.
