Naples, May 8, 2026 – The Libbra Festival, a celebration of independent bookstores, has returned to Naples for its fifth edition, taking place from Friday, May 8, to Sunday, May 10, 2026. This three-day event is dedicated to promoting culture, books, and music in the heart of the city.

Fifth Edition Organized by Rete L.I.Re

The festival is organized by Rete L.I.Re (Independent Bookstores in Relation), a network comprising several prominent independent bookstores including Dante&Decartes, Librido, Tamu, and Perditempo. The event features a diverse program of author meetings, workshops for children and adults, and various cultural exchanges, all designed to foster debate and intellectual engagement.

According to the festival’s website, “For us, books are: dialogues, pretexts to talk about, windows to open, a pair of glasses to see better, kaleidoscopes to let the imagination float.” The organizers emphasize their belief that “books are and will continue to be pretexts to spark discussions, to open scenarios, to know and to recognize ourselves.”

Festival Program Highlights

The extensive program commenced on Friday, May 8, at 5:00 PM with a meeting titled “PALESTINIAN PRISONERS. IN THE HELL OF ISRAELI PRISONS” at the Church of Saints Demetrio and Bonifacio. This opening day also included photographic exhibitions and comics, concluding with a dinner provided by Amir restaurant and a live-set by Radio-Lina.

Saturday, May 9, began with “PRELUDI. ARCHITECTURE COLLECTION,” curated by Cratèra editions, focusing on architecture and design in Naples. A lunch provided by Al 53 restaurant followed, along with numerous other meetings and the presentation of Yeniffer Lilibell Aliaga Chávez’s book, Occhi di Foresta. The evening concluded with a dinner by Anema autoproduzioni and a DJ set by NaDir.

On Sunday, May 10, the festival will offer a workshop for children aged 8 to 13, “CITY. AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO NOTICE IT,” encouraging participants to “train their gaze (to notice those seemingly invisible details) and reflect on how we perceive the city.” This will be followed by lunch from Cucina Clandestina and additional meetings. Poetry will also be featured, with the presentation of Carmen Gallo’s Procne machina, published by Einaudi.

Access and Contributions

Admission to the Libbra Festival in Naples is free. However, there is a participation fee for workshops and a suggested contribution of 5 euros for Saturday’s concert.

The festival aims to strengthen the bond between readers and independent bookstores, highlighting their crucial role in cultural dissemination and community engagement.
