Waving Iranian, American, Israeli, and Italian flags, the students voiced strong demands for democracy and freedom in Iran, asserting, “This is not a war against Iran, but for Iran.”
Students Denounce Regime’s Global Threat and Internet Blockade
The protest, organized by the Iranian student community in Naples, emphasized the broader implications of the ongoing conflict, stating that it “already concerns Europe.” Demonstrators highlighted the Iranian regime’s military involvement beyond its borders, specifically mentioning the deployment of drones in Ukraine and missile capabilities extending up to 4,000 kilometers, which they consider a direct threat to European security.
“We, as Iranians, know better than anyone else that war is not the ideal solution. But in our situation, it has become the only option left,” a spokesperson for the students declared. Placards critical of the Iranian leadership, including a slogan against the Supreme Leader, were prominently displayed. The participants also expressed their support for Reza Pahlavi, whom they see as a “unifying figure for a democratic future.”
Calls for Freedom and Support from Liberal Democratic Party
The demonstration commenced with speeches from two representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, who articulated the students’ desire for self-expression and a democratic future. They emphasized, “We are not here to support war, but the freedom of peoples.”
A significant concern raised by the students was the severe communication difficulties with their families in Iran. “For almost 25 days, we have not been able to communicate due to the internet blockade. Many of us here who received economic support from our families are now in difficulty,” one student explained, highlighting the humanitarian impact of the regime’s policies.

During the protest, a brief moment of tension arose when a passerby reacted to the display of an Israeli flag. However, the demonstration continued peacefully as the procession moved from Piazza Dante, through Via Toledo, and concluded in Piazza Municipio. Throughout the march, students chanted slogans such as “Revolution, the only solution” and “Democracy and freedom for Iran.”
