Milan, January 28, 2026 – Inter Milan reinforced its commitment to promoting the values of inclusion in sports and combating all forms of discrimination during a reflective afternoon at the Shoah Memorial in Milan. Over 300 young athletes, accompanied by Inter Legends, visited the Memorial, located at Binario 21 of the Central Station, emphasizing the inclusive power of football.
A Commitment to Inclusivity and Remembrance
This initiative, supported by Inter along with Lega Calcio Serie A and Centro Sportivo Italiano, is part of an ongoing effort since 2018 to instill values of respect and equality. The young participants engaged in a guided tour of the Memorial, culminating in a poignant tribute to Árpád Weisz, a successful player and coach for Inter whose promising career was tragically cut short by the horrors of Nazism.
Participants and Educational Initiatives
Attendees included young players from Milanese oratories competing in the Philadelphia Junior Cup, a national youth tournament involving Serie A cities, as well as male and female footballers from Inter’s Youth Sector. Students from Milanese schools participating in the ‘Io Tifo Positivo’ (I Cheer Positively) project, a club initiative with Comunità Nuova and supported by the Municipality of Milan, also joined the visit.
During their visit, the young athletes had the opportunity to meet Inter Legends Lisa Alborghetti, Giuseppe Bergomi, and Francesco Toldo. These football icons led a discussion on the core values of the project: friendship, respect, and inclusion, highlighting them as crucial tools against racism. The awareness-raising session also featured insights from Roberto Jarach, President of the Shoah Memorial Foundation of Milan; Elena Vetere, from the Corporate Social Responsibility Office of Lega Calcio Serie A; and Massimo Achini, President of CSI Milan.
‘Keep Racism Out’ Campaign and Future Engagements
The event concluded with the Inter Legends signing ‘Philadelphia Junior Cup | Keep Racism Out’ jerseys, symbolizing the educational mission of the project. The Philadelphia Junior Cup, now in its thirteenth edition, continues its collaboration with the ‘Keep Racism Out’ campaign, an anti-racism and anti-discrimination initiative promoted by Lega Calcio Serie A in partnership with UNAR (National Anti-Discrimination Office) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
This visit underscores Inter Milan’s continuous dedication to leveraging the power of sport to foster a more inclusive and respectful society, educating younger generations about the importance of memory and the fight against all forms of prejudice.
