Capena, April 23, 2026 – Carabinieri have confiscated six kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth half a million euros on the market, in Capena, a town in the province of Rome. This significant seizure, the largest ever in the area of competence for the Monterotondo Carabinieri company, led to the arrest of a 35-year-old local man.
Extensive Surveillance Leads to Discovery
The operation began on the evening of April 20, when military personnel, following targeted surveillance services to monitor suspicious activity near a commercial establishment, stopped a 53-year-old man found in possession of a dose of cocaine. The immediate extension of checks inside the bar led to the discovery of the first 17 grams of cocaine in the possession of the 35-year-old suspect.
Six Kilograms of Cocaine Found at Home
A subsequent house search at the suspect’s residence brought to light a substantial quantity of drugs. Inside a duffel bag, six blocks of cocaine were found, weighing over six kilograms in total.
Cash and Contraband Cigarettes Also Seized
Concurrently, the Carabinieri seized materials used for packaging the narcotics, over 9,000 euros in cash believed to be proceeds from illicit activities, and 61 packs of cigarettes without the State Monopoly mark.
Suspect Transferred to Rebibbia Prison
Following the formal procedures, and as per the instructions of the Tivoli Public Prosecutor’s Office, the 35-year-old from Capena was taken to Rome’s Rebibbia prison, awaiting validation by the Tivoli court.
Ongoing Efforts Against Drug Dealing
The investigations were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Capena station and are the result of continuous territorial control activities by the Monterotondo company’s military personnel, aimed at combating crimes, particularly those related to narcotic substances and property offenses, to ensure the safety of citizens in these areas.
Destination of the Drugs Under Investigation
These controls, which led to the major seizure, are ongoing to understand – given the large quantity – which drug dealing squares north of the Capital were the intended destination for the confiscated drugs.
