Naples, 22 March – The Guerri Napoli Tennis Cup, an ATP Challenger 125 tournament organized by Master Group Sport in collaboration with the Tennis Club Napoli, has officially begun its main draw matches. The tournament promises exciting tennis action, with several prominent players set to compete in the coming days.

First Round Action and Key Players

The first seeds of the tournament will take to the courts on Monday. Among them, Italian player Andrea Pellegrino, a semifinalist last year, seeded sixth and ranked 128th in the ATP, will face Romanian player Jjanu. French player Blanchet, seeded eighth, will compete against Spain’s Sanchez Izquierdo. Other Monday matches include Blancaneux (Fra) vs. Sachko (Ucr) and Nagal (Ind) vs. Squire (Ger). Matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.

Tuesday will see the highly anticipated debut of other major players. Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka, the tournament’s top seed Daniel Altmaier from Germany, and the second seed and defending champion Vit Kropiva from the Czech Republic are all expected to play their first matches. Italian players Federico Cinà, Jacopo Vasamì, Stefano Travaglia, and Lorenzo Giustino are also scheduled to compete.

Local Talent Mariano Tammaro Shines in Qualifiers

In the qualification rounds, several Italian tennis players advanced, including Dalla Valle, Ribecai, Guerrieri, Bondioli, Rottoli, Carboni, and Tammaro. Notably, 21-year-old Neapolitan player Mariano Tammaro delivered a remarkable performance in front of his home crowd. He eliminated fellow Italian Gianmarco Ferrari, who was the 11th seed and ranked 469th in the ATP. Tammaro is scheduled to play against Michele Ribecai, ranked 389th in the ATP, in one of the six final qualification matches on Monday. A victory would mark his first entry into the main draw of an ATP Challenger tournament.
