RIETI, Italy – Four people have died and one is seriously injured following a terrible road accident that occurred yesterday afternoon, around 4:00 PM, at Ponte Buita (Rieti), on the Salaria road leading to Rome. The incident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to initial reports, one of the vehicles involved in the accident may have veered into the oncoming lane. The slippery asphalt, likely due to recent rainfall, is being considered as a possible contributing factor to the tragedy. The collision took place at kilometer 60 of the Salaria, between Poggio San Lorenzo and Ponte Buita, a section of the road known for its high risk of accidents.

Traffic was diverted in both directions, towards Rieti and towards Rome, at the Poggio Moiano junction, causing considerable disruption for motorists.
