Milan, April 16 – The first sector of the new Polyclinic in Milan, known as Sector A, has been officially delivered, marking a significant step towards the full inauguration of the Sforza Pavilion by 2026. This initial phase includes seven floors dedicated to major medical specialties and offers 400 beds, along with a new 24-hour dialysis area for both adults and pediatric patients.

Seven Medical Specialties in the New Sector A

Sector A will house several key medical departments, including Otorhinolaryngology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, and Pregnancy Pathology. This comprehensive setup aims to provide advanced medical care across a range of disciplines. The project is proceeding according to its updated timeline, which incorporates design improvements made possible by third-sector funding, further enhancing the quality of the facility.

Symbolic Handover Ceremony

A symbolic helmet handover ceremony took place between the Works Director and the Management, signifying the transition of the building from a construction site to a functional hospital. This event paves the way for the installation of medical furnishings and technological equipment in the coming days.

Future Deliveries and Advanced Facilities

Following the delivery of Sector A, the subsequent phases will include the handover of Sectors B and C. These sections will add another block of approximately 400 beds, new operating rooms, and new gynecological and pediatric emergency rooms. Upon completion, the new Polyclinic will stand as a modern and cutting-edge healthcare facility.

President Giachetti: A Tangible Milestone for Milan

Marco Giachetti, President of the Polyclinic, commented on the achievement: “Today is an important day because it marks the first concrete milestone of the new Sforza Pavilion. The delivery of Sector A represents a tangible step towards an increasingly modern, sustainable, and people-centered hospital, the result of a dream shared with all of Milan.” He added that the outfitting process would begin in the coming months, with activation planned after the summer. Giachetti also highlighted the project’s significant self-financing through centuries of Milanese philanthropy, a unique asset in global healthcare.

General Director Stocco: Continuous Collaboration

Matteo Stocco, General Director, emphasized the organizational aspect of this milestone: “This delivery marks a fundamental first achievement: not only in construction but also organizationally. In recent years, we have worked in parallel on technologies, logistics, and new management models, thanks to continuous collaboration among clinicians, coordinators, technicians, and administrative staff.”
