Confartigianato Roma has revealed that out of 6,500 food businesses in the capital, over 3,300 – more than 50% – are operating irregularly, falsely claiming to produce artisan goods. Andrea Rotondo, President of Confartigianato Roma, has called upon the Rome Municipality and local police to conduct thorough checks. “This marks the end of an era for those who maliciously exploit the prestige of the term ‘artisan’ without meeting the criteria,” Rotondo stated. He emphasized that the new regulation will ensure transparency for thousands of businesses and millions of consumers, guaranteeing that products labeled ‘artisan’ are genuinely the result of the work, ingenuity, and passion of local entrepreneurs.
