Emergency Air Transfer: Two-Year-Old Flown from Palermo to Milan for Urgent Medical Care

Milan, April 5 – A two-year-old child suffering from a serious illness was urgently transported by air from Palermo to Milan yesterday afternoon, April 4, 2026. The life-saving mission, coordinated by institutional authorities and the Italian Air Force, ensured the child received immediate specialized medical attention at the Irccs hospital in Milan.

Timely Intervention for a Critical Case

The urgent medical transfer was initiated due to the severity of the child’s condition, which necessitated immediate specialized care available in Milan. The swift action of all involved parties allowed the young patient to reach the Lombardy capital in the shortest possible time, highlighting the efficiency of the emergency response system.

The Rescue Mission: A Race Against Time

The life-saving flight was activated at the request of the Palermo Prefecture and coordinated by the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command. A G-650 aircraft from the 31st Wing was deployed for the operation, taking off from the Sicilian airport at 3:00 PM. Accompanying the child on board the jet were the parents and a specialized medical team, who provided continuous healthcare throughout the flight.

Arrival at Linate and Hospitalization

After approximately an hour and fifteen minutes of flight, the aircraft landed at Milan’s Linate Airport. Upon arrival, the child was immediately disembarked and transferred by ambulance to the designated hospital. The mission, authorized and coordinated by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages the State aircraft fleet for public utility activities, underscores the effectiveness of the rescue chain in critical emergency situations.

The successful transfer demonstrates the crucial role played by the Italian Air Force and other governmental bodies in providing rapid response and specialized transport for medical emergencies. The child is now under the care of specialists in Milan, receiving the necessary treatment for their condition. Further updates on the child’s health status are not available at this time.
