Rome, Italy – The Coin Group is grappling with an unprecedented crisis, leading to the closure of its iconic Via Cola di Rienzo store in the Prati district on April 4th. This decision follows the earlier closures of its Porta di Roma and Lunghezza outlets, raising significant concerns within the capital.
Coin Group’s Deepening Crisis
The announcement was made during a meeting on February 18th between company executives and trade unions, where the group’s financial difficulties were confirmed. The Rome store is not the only one facing closure; the company’s restructuring plan also includes the closure of stores in Milan (Corso Vercelli) and Verona, both scheduled for July 31st. The news has intensified worries in Rome, particularly for employees at the Cinecittà and San Giovanni stores, where the company has indicated the implementation of social safety nets and flexible working arrangements.
A capital increase last September failed to reverse the group’s fortunes, which reported a loss of 35 million euros and a drastic decline in visitor numbers.
