ROME, April 3 – AS Roma marked World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, 2026, with a visit to the Ciampacavallo Association, a prominent center in Rome dedicated to assisting individuals with psycho-physical and sensory disabilities. The club’s delegation, led by mascot Romolo and accompanied by young players from AS Roma’s youth academy, engaged with the center’s residents and learned about their therapeutic activities.
AS Roma’s Engagement with Ciampacavallo
The Ciampacavallo Association, celebrating 25 years of service, provides support to approximately 1,200 individuals, many of whom have severe autism spectrum disorders. The center utilizes horses as a comprehensive educational tool, fostering personal growth, socialization, and psycho-physical well-being.
During the visit, the young Roma footballers were welcomed by President Matteo De Lorenzo and the association’s staff. They had the opportunity to observe and participate in daily activities, including horse-related therapies and educational workshops. This initiative underscores the club’s commitment to inclusion and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities through recreational, educational, sports, and rehabilitative programs.
Interactive Activities and Donations
A highlight of the visit was the experience at the riding school and the serigraphy workshop, where residents exercise their artistic talents by hand-printing t-shirts with the motto “Siamo Pazzi Quanto Ribelli” (We are as crazy as rebels), a playful nod to the ancient Roman acronym SPQR.
At the conclusion of the visit, AS Roma donated official club apparel to the center. These items will be used by the residents for sports activities and recreational pursuits, further supporting their engagement and well-being.
