Rome, June 12 – A record number of 275 new State Police commissioners, the highest ever for a police official course, took their oath this morning in Rome. The ceremony, held at the Sala Santa Cecilia in the Auditorium Parco della Musica, was attended by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Police Chief Vittorio Pisani, alongside over 1,600 family members.
Record Numbers for the State Police
This graduating class marks a significant milestone, with 275 new commissioners, the largest cohort in the history of police official training courses. Starting tomorrow, these new officers will be deployed to provinces across Italy, strengthening security and legality nationwide.
A Century of Training Excellence
The swearing-in ceremony holds additional symbolic weight as the course concluded during the centenary of the establishment of the Superior Police School. Throughout this century, the school has been dedicated to preparing future leaders, adapting and evolving as a laboratory for study and research while remaining true to its core mission: to train security leaders, enhancing their legal preparation, institutional culture, and ethical awareness.
Diverse Backgrounds and Rigorous Training
The average age of the new officials is 30. For twelve months, their daily routines were filled with post-university level lectures, field exercises, and technical-operational training. More than half, 56%, come from civilian life, and they described their initial days at the residential phase as a mix of emotions, from initial disorientation to a full realization of the importance of their role in society.
