14-Year-Old Aminata Sy Disappears in Rome, Sparking Urgent Search
Rome, March 20, 2026 – Fears are growing for Aminata Sy, a 14-year-old girl who has been missing for three days after leaving her home in Acilia for school in Casal Bernoccho. Aminata, born in Italy to Senegalese parents, was last seen on Wednesday, March 18, and since then, all contact has been lost. Her mobile phone is switched off or unreachable, and she does not have any personal documents with her.
Parents Report Disappearance, Association Joins Search
Aminata’s parents, who have been living and working in Italy for years, immediately reported their daughter’s disappearance to the police. The Penelope Lazio association, dedicated to helping families of missing persons, has also joined the search efforts, working alongside law enforcement.
The circumstances surrounding Aminata’s disappearance are causing considerable concern. On Wednesday morning, March 18, Aminata left home at 8:00 AM, telling her parents she was going to school. However, she never arrived at the Istituto Scolastico di Via Scartazzini in Casal Bernoccho, where she attends the third year of middle school. The school is located just 500 meters from the Casalbernocchi Metromare station and faces a large park.
School Notified Parents of Absence
After the school bell rang, marking the end of the entry period, Aminata’s teachers informed her parents that she had not entered her classroom, nor had anyone seen her on school premises. This immediate concern escalated into a full-scale search, which has now expanded across the capital, given Aminata’s young age and the school’s proximity to the Metromare station, offering potential access to any part of the city.
Extensive Search Efforts Underway
The search efforts by both the association and law enforcement are comprehensive, leaving no stone unturned. All possibilities are being considered, including the chance that Aminata may have planned her departure.
Aminata is described as being 1 meter and 60 centimeters tall, with black hair styled in braids and brown eyes. The last time she was seen, she was wearing black and red New Balance sneakers, a gray sweatshirt, and gray trousers. The appeal for her safe return has been widely circulated by the Penelope Lazio association and the popular Italian television program “Chi l’ha visto?”.
The community remains hopeful for Aminata’s swift and safe return as the search continues.
