Milan, Lombardy, Italy – Autostrade per l’Italia has announced new night-time traffic modifications on the A8 Milan-Varese motorway and the Fiera Milano Raccordo (R37). These closures are scheduled for the night between Monday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 23, from 9 PM to 5 AM, to facilitate inspection and maintenance activities on safety barriers in the Milanese area.

Planned Closures on the A8 and Fiera Milano Raccordo

For motorists traveling on the A8 from Varese, the following closures will be in effect:

  • The entry ramp to the Fiera Milano Raccordo (R37).
  • The entry ramp to the Milano Viale Certosa Raccordo (SC1) in the direction of Milan.
  • The Cascina Merlata exit.

On the Fiera Milano Raccordo (R37), the entry ramp to the A8 Milan-Varese towards Milan will be closed for vehicles coming from the SP46.

Alternative Routes to Minimize Disruption

To mitigate inconvenience for drivers, Autostrade per l’Italia has provided an alternative route for those coming from Varese. Users are advised to follow signs for Milan along the A8, then for Brescia-Venice along the A4. They should then exit at the Cormano junction, re-enter from the same junction towards Turin, Milan city, Pero, or Meda, and finally merge onto the A52 Tangenziale Nord.

Context of the Maintenance Work

These works are part of a scheduled program of inspection and maintenance activities for motorway infrastructures. The timing has been specifically chosen to occur during night hours to minimize disruption to daily traffic flow. The maintenance of safety barriers is crucial for ensuring the continued safety of all road users on these vital routes.

Impact on Local Commuters and Businesses

While the closures are planned for night hours, commuters and businesses relying on these routes for overnight transport may experience delays. It is recommended that drivers plan their journeys accordingly and consider the alternative routes provided. Local authorities and Autostrade per l’Italia aim to complete these essential works as quickly and efficiently as possible to restore normal traffic conditions.

Ensuring Road Safety

The safety of motorway users is paramount, and regular maintenance of infrastructure, including safety barriers, is a critical component of this commitment. These planned works are a proactive measure to ensure that the A8 Milan-Varese and Fiera Milano Raccordo remain safe and reliable for the thousands of vehicles that use them daily. Drivers are encouraged to stay informed about potential traffic disruptions through official channels and to exercise caution when navigating through areas affected by roadworks.

Further updates regarding these and future maintenance activities will be communicated by Autostrade per l’Italia through their official channels and local news outlets.
