Rome, Lazio, Italy – The Italian capital is on high alert today as thousands of police officers, supported by drones and helicopters, are deployed across the city in anticipation of four large and potentially conflicting protests. Preliminary estimates suggest a total of approximately 20,000 demonstrators will take to the streets, with participants expected from other Italian cities and abroad.
Extensive Security Measures in Place
Security measures have been meticulously planned during a technical meeting at the police headquarters, following weeks of discussions with the organizers of the various mobilizations. The primary goal is to prevent tensions and direct contact between the opposing groups. Significant disruptions to traffic and public transport are also anticipated.
The Remigration March: A Call for Stricter Immigration Policies
The protest causing the most concern is the one advocating for ‘remigration’ policies. This demonstration, organized by the ‘Remigration and Reconquest Committee,’ is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM in Piazza della Libertà in the Prati district. Around 4,000 participants are expected to march towards Piazza Risorgimento, passing through Via Cola di Rienzo.
The ‘Remigration and Reconquest Committee,’ a joint initiative of four founding organizations – CasaPound Italia, Rete dei Patrioti, VFS, and Brescia ai Bresciani – states on its website that the event aims to give
