Palermo, June 8, 2026 – A significant anti-drug operation by the Palermo Guardia di Finanza has resulted in the execution of six precautionary measures against individuals accused of drug trafficking. The investigation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), has dismantled an organization based in the Sicilian capital with connections to Naples, Rome, and Reggio Calabria.
Extensive Investigation Leads to Major Seizures
Through extensive wiretaps, surveillance, and stakeouts, the military police reconstructed the supply chains for cocaine and hashish. The operation led to the in-flagrante arrest of nine individuals and the seizure of 80 kilograms of drugs. All those investigated were established figures in the drug trafficking sector.
The investigations utilized telephone, environmental, and telematics intercepts, along with video surveillance systems and numerous controls and stakeouts. This allowed for the identification of the drug supply channels used by the Palermo-based individuals, who acquired cocaine in Calabria and Campania, and hashish in Lazio.
Guardia di Finanza Emphasizes Commitment to Combating Organized Crime
The Guardia di Finanza stated that “today’s activity demonstrates the constant commitment of the Guardia di Finanza, within the framework of directives issued by the judicial authority, in combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances, a primary source of financing for organized crime.”
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks that span across multiple Italian regions, including Naples, a key hub for cocaine distribution.
