Lamezia Excellence Shines at Bocconi University Math Games

Milan, 30 May – The spotlight is on Bocconi University in Milan today, Saturday, May 30, where a challenge of logic and intuition is underway, featuring academic excellence from Lamezia Terme. Aldo Paola, a student from I.C. “Borrello-Fiorentino,” has successfully reached the national finals of the Mathematical Games, a prestigious competition organized by the renowned PRISTEM center at Bocconi.

A Journey of Dedication and Skill

The I.C. “Borrello-Fiorentino” continues to prove itself a hub of talent in the field of exact sciences, participating once again this academic year in the esteemed Mathematical Games Championships. Aldo Paola, a student in class II A at the Via Matarazzo campus, secured his place in the Milan finals with a well-deserved second place in the C1 category (reserved for first and second-year middle school students) during the semi-finals held on March 14 at the “Galileo Galilei” Scientific High School in Lamezia Terme.

For Aldo, this is not just a competition but a formative and unforgettable life experience, where he will compete against some of Italy’s brightest young minds. The official team that will represent Italy at the International Final at the end of July will be selected from the participants of this national final.

Teamwork and Passion for Mathematics

Behind such a prestigious achievement lies extensive teamwork. Special recognition goes to Professor Di Cello Giovanna, the institute’s Mathematical Games coordinator, who has dedicated herself for years to promoting this healthy competition within the school. Thanks to her constant commitment and guidance, mathematical games have become a valuable tradition for I.C. “Borrello-Fiorentino,” transforming mathematics from a challenging subject into a true adventure of thought, capable of stimulating logical reasoning and healthy competition among students.

Pride and Encouragement from School Leadership

The School Principal, Dr. Giuseppe Guida, along with the entire teaching staff, expressed immense pride and great applause not only for the student who qualified for the final but also for all the students who participated in the March semi-finals. “These results,” the school emphasized, “are a testament to the excellent work carried out daily by our teachers, who inspire students with a passion for mathematics and reasoning, and to the constant commitment of the students themselves. They represent a source of great satisfaction for our school community and an incentive to continue on this path of nurturing talent.”

Today, the entire I.C. “Borrello-Fiorentino” is cheering for young Paola. Regardless of the outcome of the competition, the “Borrello-Fiorentino” institute has already won its biggest challenge: igniting the spark of talent and knowledge in its students.
