Early Summer Conditions Blanket Naples and Campania

Naples and the wider Campania region are currently basking in stable atmospheric conditions, heralding an early arrival of summer. As of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, a persistent high-pressure system continues to dominate the meteorological landscape, promising a week of warm, summery weather characterized by clear skies, or at most, light, harmless passing clouds.

According to expert forecasts, the subtropical anticyclone is set to maintain stable weather across all provinces of Campania. This will result in a warm yet agreeable climate, further enhanced by gentle northerly winds that will help mitigate any potential mugginess. Such conditions are ideal for outdoor pursuits, whether it’s a leisurely stroll along the seafront or a day trip to the countryside.

Temperatures on the Rise: Inland Areas to Reach 33 Degrees Celsius

Temperatures are expected to see a further slight increase, settling into full summer values, with some variations between coastal and inland areas. Below are the maximum temperatures forecast for the provincial capitals:

  • Naples: The Parthenopean city is set for another day of brilliant sunshine. Perceived temperatures will fluctuate between a minimum of 21°C and a maximum of 31°C. The sea will be calm, and winds will be very light, with gusts reaching only 3 knots.
  • Caserta: Caserta province is anticipated to record the highest temperatures in the region, with a predicted maximum of 33°C. The sky will be mostly clear, with some light cloud cover passing through.
  • Benevento: The Sannio region will also experience a stable and sunny day. Thermometers could climb as high as 33°C, but winds will be slightly stronger than on the coast, blowing up to 8 knots.
  • Avellino: The Irpinia capital will enjoy a sunny day. Temperatures will range between a minimum of 16°C and a pleasant maximum of 32°C, accompanied by winds with gusts up to 6 knots.
  • Salerno: Along the Salerno coastline, sunshine will be predominant. Temperatures will be slightly more moderate, with a perceived maximum of approximately 25°C and winds up to 6 knots, ensuring a very pleasant climate.

Outlook for the Coming Days: First Signs of Change from Thursday

The dominance of the high-pressure system appears set to weaken in the latter half of the week. From Thursday, May 28, the latest updates from weather models indicate the arrival of cooler air at higher altitudes. This could trigger some afternoon instability, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the inland and Apennine areas of the region. However, this is not expected to be a significant deterioration, and the overall thermal conditions will remain rather warm, effectively marking the beginning of the summer season.
