ROME, May 22 – Municipio XII is actively engaged in the renovation of its public gyms and school buildings, with a particular focus on waterproofing and infrastructure improvements. The administration announced that a dedicated tender for waterproofing all school buildings in need has been initiated, with works already completed at the Via Longhena 98 complex and at Parco Flora and Fantasia dei Colori.
Progress on Waterproofing and Infrastructure
Stella Squillace, Councilor for Educational Policies and School Building, stated, “As an Administration, we felt the need to provide a dedicated tender for the waterproofing of all school buildings that needed it.” She added, “For now, we have completed the waterproofing of the complex in Via Longhena 98, but also at Parco Flora and Fantasia dei Colori.” The primary focus is on the waterproofing of roofs, and funds are expected to be spent within the 2026-2027 biennium.
In addition to waterproofing, the Via Longhena 98 site is also slated for other projects, including the expansion of the existing library, funded by PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) funds. This initiative aims to transform the facility into a public service hub. The Cesana complex in Porta Portese is being directly managed by Simu, the Department of Urban Infrastructure and Maintenance.
Opposition Raises Concerns Over Delays
Despite the administration’s announcements, opposition parties have voiced concerns regarding the slow pace of administrative procedures. “If on the one hand we record announcements and programming, on the other hand, citizens, families, and sports associations continue to deal with inadequate facilities,” declared Forza Italia councilors Pietrangelo Massaro, Alessandro Galletti, and Fabio Vittorini.
The councilors specifically highlighted the situation at Via Longhena 98, stating that various interventions are still delayed. “These are works announced some time ago and included in a vision for the revitalization of the quadrant. We consider it unacceptable that institutional promises remain unfulfilled, while the territory awaits essential services and adequate aggregation spaces,” Massaro, Galletti, and Vittorini concluded.
Continued Vigilance and Future Plans
In response to the opposition’s concerns, the Municipio assured that progress is being made on the design of many other improvement works for both sports and school facilities. Forza Italia councilors affirmed their commitment to continued vigilance in the interest of the citizens of Municipio XII.
The ongoing renovations aim to provide safer and more functional spaces for students and the community. The administration emphasizes its dedication to improving the quality of public infrastructure, while the opposition continues to monitor the timely execution of these projects to ensure that the needs of the residents are met effectively.
