Divino Amore Train Station Project Unveiled: Construction Aimed for 2030, Inauguration for 2033 Jubilee
Rome, May 15, 2026 – The project for the new Divino Amore railway stop has been officially presented to the public by RFI (Italian Railway Network), the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Rome. This highly anticipated development is a crucial element for enhancing mobility in the southeastern part of the capital.
The station will be located along the regional railway line FL7-FL8 (Rome-Naples via Formia), specifically between Torricola and Santa Palomba, outside the Grande Raccordo Anulare and within the IX Municipality. Following technical and institutional discussions, the project’s initial location was revised; the station will now be built near Falcognana, approximately one kilometer south of the original plan.
Station Details and Funding
The project includes the construction of two railway platforms connected by a pedestrian underpass, which will be adapted from an existing structure. Outside, a square with a parking area will be provided. Accessibility will be ensured by stairs and elevators within the station building, which will also house technical rooms, restrooms, and a commercial space.
The intervention, funded with approximately 20 million euros through RFI’s Program Contract, was unlocked through collaboration between the Government, the Lazio Region, Roma Capitale, and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. The Services Conference was initiated in December 2025, and its conclusion awaits the opinion of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. The technical-economic feasibility plan has already been approved.
Mobility and Development for the Quadrant
The stated objective is to strengthen public transport, facilitate direct access to the center of Rome, and contribute to reducing vehicular traffic. The enhancement of rail connections is considered a strategic choice for improving the quality of daily commutes for residents, workers, and students.
“This work, which is being carried out in agreement with the Municipality of Rome, is a strategic infrastructure,” declared Regional Councilor Fabrizio Ghera. Capitoline Councilor Eugenio Patanè echoed this sentiment, stating, “The new stop is not only a modern interchange hub for residents and the many commuters of the quadrant, but a fundamental work.”
Senator Andrea De Priamo of Fratelli d’Italia and the group leader in Municipality IX, Massimiliano De Juliis, emphasized that “the realization of this station represents a result of strong political commitment: we have followed it over the years, through moments of progress and phases of stagnation. Seeing this project take shape today is a source of great satisfaction and represents a concrete sign of years of work shared with the territory.”
From Municipality IX, Mobility Councilor Paola Angelucci highlighted that “this is a historical request, the result of decades of mobilization by residents and the local community.” She concluded, “The hope is to start work in 2030 and arrive at 2033, for the Jubilee, with the station completed.”
A Long-Term Project
The completion of the project is seen as a shared responsibility among all involved institutions, regardless of political affiliations. Administrative continuity will be crucial to successfully implement this intervention, which is considered strategic for the area.
“Regardless of who will be leading the Municipality, the City, the Region, or the national Government in the coming years, it will be essential to ensure administrative continuity and bring this strategic intervention for the territory to completion,” concluded De Priamo and De Juliis.
The new Divino Amore station is thus presented not only as an infrastructure but as an investment destined to impact the quality of life and development prospects of the entire quadrant.
