Naples, Campania, Italy – A new, scenic sea connection between Naples and Baia is set to launch on June 1st, promising to transform tourism in the Phlegraean Fields. The announcement was made by the Mayor of Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, highlighting the region’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and visitor experience.

A Breathtaking Journey Across the Gulf

The new route will depart from Molo Beverello in Naples and arrive at the port of Baia, offering a unique perspective of the Neapolitan Gulf. Passengers will be able to admire Baia’s Aragonese Castle from the sea and enjoy the crystal-clear waters, making the journey an integral part of the tourist experience. This service will operate daily throughout the summer, catering to a growing demand for exploring the wonders of the Phlegraean Fields.

Enhanced Access to Historical and Natural Treasures

Mayor Della Ragione emphasized the significance of this new line, stating, “From Naples to Bacoli, by sea. A new tourist line is about to start, connecting Molo Beverello with the port of Baia. Starting from June 1st, every day of the week. It will be a great opportunity to discover the Aragonese Castle, the Archaeological Museum, the Underwater City, the Thermal Baths of Baia, the Temples of Venus and Diana, up to the Piscina Mirabilis and the Casina Vanvitelliana. And much, much more. To satisfy the ever-increasing demand to visit the wonders of our city, of the Phlegraean Fields.”

The service will run four days a week – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday – with departures from Naples at 9:45 AM and arrivals in Bacoli at 10:45 AM. Tourists will have approximately five hours to explore the city’s attractions before re-embarking at 3:45 PM. The return journey will offer further scenic views, skirting Capo Miseno and providing glimpses of Procida Island, all in a relaxed setting.

Collaboration for Regional Development

The Mayor extended his gratitude to the Libera Navigazione del Golfo company, particularly Bruno and Fabio Aponte, for their belief in the region’s potential. “This investment certifies how much the tourist demand and offer of our city are increasing,” he added, also thanking Councillor Olga Schiano lo Moriello for her dedication to this strategic sector. The hope is for more such services to be directed towards the Phlegraean Fields, fostering collective growth through shared efforts.

Economic Impact and Future Prospects

This new sea link is expected to significantly boost the local economy by increasing tourist footfall and supporting businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors. The Phlegraean Fields, rich in archaeological sites and natural beauty, are poised to become an even more prominent destination on the international tourist map. The initiative underscores a broader strategy to leverage the region’s unique assets for sustainable development.

The enhanced connectivity will not only benefit tourists but also local residents, offering a convenient and enjoyable mode of transport. It represents a forward-looking approach to urban and regional planning, integrating transport infrastructure with cultural and environmental preservation. The success of this route could pave the way for further investments in maritime transport, strengthening the links between Naples and its surrounding coastal towns.

The local authorities and tourism stakeholders are optimistic about the long-term impact of this new service, anticipating a vibrant summer season and continued growth in the years to come. The emphasis on sustainable tourism practices and community engagement remains a key priority, ensuring that the benefits are shared widely across the region.
