Naples, May 10, 2026 – A surgical team in Naples has successfully removed a pair of forceps from a woman’s abdomen, seven months after the instrument was inadvertently left inside her during a tummy tuck procedure. The operation brings an end to months of severe pain and uncertainty for the patient and her family.
Seven Months of Agony and Misdiagnosis
The incident came to light after the woman, identified as Elvira’s mother, experienced persistent and unexplained pain following her initial surgery last October. According to Elvira, her mother’s discomfort was consistently dismissed by the surgeon as a normal post-operative symptom.
“Right from the start, the surgery last October wasn’t going well. We went to the doctor more than once, and he told us everything was normal after an operation like that. He never said, ‘Let’s do an ultrasound or a CT scan,’ or any other test to see what had happened,” Elvira told Rai News.
The family’s complaint, filed with the police, details how the woman was prescribed
