Delta Air Lines Inaugurates New Direct Flight from Rome to Seattle
Rome, May 8, 2026 – Delta Air Lines yesterday launched its inaugural direct flight from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Seattle (SEA), marking a significant expansion of its transatlantic services. The new route will operate four times a week, utilizing a state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. Seattle now becomes the sixth destination served by Delta from Rome, complementing existing routes to New York-JFK, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and Minneapolis.
Ilse Janssens, General Manager Sales, EMEAI at Delta Air Lines, expressed enthusiasm for the new connection. “Today, we are thrilled to inaugurate Delta’s first flight from Italy to the US West Coast directly from Rome, one of our main gateways in Europe and an airport we already serve with five other routes,” Janssens stated. “This new connection will allow Italians to reach the Pacific Northwest and its attractions even more comfortably and directly, characterized by the excellent service for which Delta is renowned. Conversely, it will be easier for even more Americans to reach Rome and Italy, one of the most beloved European destinations for Americans.”
Delta’s Strategic Investment in Seattle
Over the past decade, Delta has significantly invested in its Seattle operations, launching flights to 28 new markets from the city. The airline now operates up to 180 daily connections from Seattle to over 60 global destinations. Through Delta’s global alliances, passengers also gain access to additional connections across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Recent investments in Seattle include a new Delta One Lounge, a new Delta Sky Club, and the development of a premium airport experience for all passengers, from arrival to gate boarding. These enhancements support Delta’s growing network and commitment to passenger comfort. Furthermore, Delta is a leader in sustainability in Seattle, with 87% of its baggage transport vehicles, conveyor belts, and aircraft towing equipment being electric, and 70% of its ground equipment operating on sustainable power.
Enhanced Comfort and Premium Experience
Passengers traveling in Delta One class can enjoy the new Delta One Lounge in Seattle, an exclusive retreat located on the top floor of Concourse A. This refined space, designed with passenger well-being in mind, features a large terrace offering panoramic views of Mount Rainier. The lounge provides curated culinary offerings from skilled chefs, spa-style showers, and a serene atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation, making it an ideal place to prepare for a journey.
Delta’s Extensive Summer Network Between Italy and the United States
During the summer of 2026, Delta will operate its most extensive network of flights ever between Italy and the United States, reaching up to 19 flights per day. Delta will connect Rome Fiumicino to New York JFK, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Seattle. Additionally, flights will operate from Milan Malpensa to New York JFK, Atlanta, and Boston; from Venice and Naples to New York JFK and Atlanta; and from Catania and Olbia to New York JFK.
